Water test

Tests well water for bacteria, lead, nitrates, and safety.

Water testing in Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill

Clean, safe drinking water is something every family should be able to count on. But whether your water comes from a private well or a public supply, contaminants like bacteria, heavy metals, or chemicals can sometimes make their way in. These issues aren’t always obvious — the water may look and taste fine — but they can still pose health risks and cause damage to plumbing over time.

At Third Eye Home Inspections, we provide professional water testing across Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Cary, Hillsborough, and surrounding areas. Our goal is simple: give you clear answers about your water quality so you can make informed decisions for your home and family.

Water testing pricing

A full water quality test costs $250. This service can be scheduled on its own or added to a full home inspection.

Why test your water?

  • Private wells aren’t regulated like city water, so regular testing is the only way to know your supply is safe.

  • Public water systems can still experience issues — like old plumbing, lead pipes, or contamination from runoff.

  • Many contaminants are invisible and odorless but can impact your health.

  • Regular testing can also help protect plumbing fixtures, appliances, and your home’s long-term value.

How a water test works

Sample collection — We take water samples from faucets inside the home, often at the kitchen sink or a main supply point.

Laboratory analysis — Samples are sent to a certified lab where they’re tested for common contaminants, including bacteria, nitrates, heavy metals, and other pollutants.

Results — You’ll receive a clear, straightforward report explaining what was found and how it compares to safety standards.

Recommendations — If your water shows issues, we’ll outline possible next steps and connect you with trusted local professionals if treatment is needed.

If your test shows problems

Don’t worry — many water issues can be addressed with filtration systems or corrective maintenance. From simple under-sink filters to whole-home systems, solutions exist for most types of contaminants. At Third Eye Home Inspections, we don’t sell or install filtration systems. Instead, we give you unbiased results and connect you with reliable local providers who can help if needed.
